I've been dealing with a really stubborn case of patella tendinopathy recently. It's sometimes very difficult to de-load a pathological tendon in patients who have manual jobs or who have to maintain a level of physical activity for health reasons (those of you who are just too stubborn to rest properly, you've only got yourselves to blame!) I think taping can be a very good option with physiotherapy for those in this category. This is a particular method which I use which seems to be very effective in enabling the patella tendon to de-load just enough that the healing process can begin. I will always give a proper progressive loading programme to these clients however; no one can escape the hard work required for tendinopathies!
